Sloane Square: Man dies after stabbing himself in front of passengers at central London Tube station

A man has died after stabbing himself in front of horrified commuters at a busy central London Tube station.

The British Transport Police said they were called to Sloane Square Tube station shortly before 10.30am to reports of a man who had sustained “serious, self-inflicted injuries”.

“Paramedics also attended however despite their best efforts the man has been pronounced dead at the scene,” a spokesman said.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

MP for Chelsea and Fulham Greg Hands said he was “shocked and saddened by news of a stabbing at Sloane Square station this morning.”

One eyewitness said on social media of the incident: “People have been running out in a panic of Sloane Square station. A lady has screamed “RUN! RUN! RUN!”.

The station was temporarily closed as police responded to the incident but has since reopened, said TfL.
