GARDAI appealed for witnesses last night after a grandmother died in a weekend road smash in Co Sligo.

The victim, named locally as Mary O’Driscoll from Kinlough in Co Leitrim, died in a collision involving a jeep and a car on the N15 at Creevykeel, Cliffoney, on Sunday evening.

Mrs O’Driscoll, who was in her seventies, was one of four people who were injured in the crash, which happened at around 3pm.

She was rushed to Sligo General Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sligo Garda Station at 071 9157000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Locals in Kinlough said the community was devastated by the death.
