A small West Yorkshire village has been rocked by a huge police manhunt after reports that an armed man was prowling the area.
The village of Menston near Otley was the scene of an intensive operation overnight on Saturday after reports of a distressed man in Burley Road. Police were called to the scene at 11.58pm and early reports suggested that the man may have been armed.
The man was seen on several properties in the area before he was eventually detained through the combined efforts of an armed response unit and local officers. The man was found to be unarmed, he was taken to hospital for treatment and a mental health assessment.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Armed officers attended, supported by local officers and the male was safely detained and arrested. He was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries and will be taken for a mental health assessment.
"It was an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the local community. Officers from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting reassurance patrols in the area today."
One local business owner said: "I've been away but I got a call to say there had been an intruder around. People thought he was armed but it turned out to be someone having a mental health episode.
"There have been all sorts of rumours going around about a huge drugs bust and things like that. I was just glad they've managed to take him in safely, I was worried for the neighbours."
