Sleep-deprived parents accidentally cook sponges instead of garlic bread

A mum and dad have shared a hilarious cooking blunder they made in their sleep-deprived state after becoming new parents. Taking to TikTok, the new mother - who goes by the username Corypea - explained how her and her partner managed to accidentally cook sponges instead of garlic bread in their oven.

Recalling the hilarious cooking faux-pas to her followers, the TikToker said: "Soon after bringing our new-born home from the hospital, we were really excited to have a homecooked meal. So we decided 'let's do an Italian situation'."

She added: "My husband goes, here's garlic bread in the freezer, take it out and pop it in the oven - it should be done in 15 minutes. But I check it at 15 minutes and it's not done. Twenty minutes, no. Thirty, no.

"We're nowhere near the finish line, it's an hour... [then] an hour and a half." She continues: "I'm fuming mad because I like my garlic bread crispy and it's not anywhere close.

"It's only after an hour and a half that we realised that they were sponges." She ends the video by hilariously stating: "This message was brought to you by sponges."

Since sharing the comical error earlier this week - captioned: "Apologies to the entire Italian community" - the clip has racked up more than 2.4 million views, with thousands of people rushing to comment on the mistake. Harlie replied: "Oh the new-born phase lol."

User54 added: "It was the pregnancy brain that got them in the freezer and 4th trimester sleep deprivation got them out." Birdie laughed: "I thought maybe the oven was off but I was NOT expecting the sponges."

Adopp put: "I had no idea where this was going and it was better than i could have ever imagined." Coffeefirst joked: "Sleep deprivation at its finest."

However, some viewers had questions. Vampyraxx asked: "Who put the sponges in the freezer?" Missy also asked: "How did they not burn?"
