Three men, including a brother of a Sydney bikie killed in an infamous 2009 airport brawl, have been charged with the alleged kidnapping and assault of another man in the city's western suburbs.
Peter Zervas, 46, John Matthew Weyman, 36, and Sozo Loukis, 59, will appear in court today after allegedly detaining a 31-year-old man and assaulting him for hours at a Cranebrook home last night.
Mr Zervas is the brother of Hells Angels bikie Anthony Zervas, who was killed in a bikie brawl at Sydney Airport in 2009.
Police say the alleged victim called triple-0 himself.
When officers arrived at a property on Challenger Way at Cranebrook at 11pm, they found three men running away.
Inside the home, officers found the 31-year-old man with several injuries, including a suspected broken jaw and hands, and numerous other cuts and bruises.
A police helicopter helped track down and arrest the alleged offenders.
Nepean Police Area Command Detective Acting Inspector Richard Gentle said it was too early to say if the alleged kidnapping was linked to organised crime.
"It would appear it was over a debt owed by the victim," he said.
Detective Acting Inspector Gentle said he believes the alleged victim had met with one of the offenders earlier in the night at a Bankstown restaurant.
"Whilst he was there meeting with that offender, another male has entered that car of his, and that's when they've driven over to that address at Cranebrook."
The trio been charged with detaining in company with intent to occasion actual bodily harm, while Peter Zervas and Sozo Loukis have also been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The alleged victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. They are, however, not life-threatening.
The men did not apply for bail when they appeared in Penrith Local Court today, and have been remanded in custody.
Their case is due to return to court on January 13, 2023.
