Sky to discontinue popular service which could get customers a £290 refund

Sky have announced the closure of their Sky Live service from early December, just 28 months after its launch.

The broadcaster revealed on Monday that they will offer full refunds to customers affected by the product’s closure, with some receiving up to £290.

Sky Live is an interactive camera accessory that works exclusively with Sky Glass televisions.

It was designed to transform the way users interact with their TVs, with movement based games, fitness workouts, and the ability to watch football matches with friends remotely via Teams.

However, Sky will be closing the service on December 4th, less than three years after launching.

The broadcaster is offering a full refund for the amount paid, with some customers paying £290 upfront and others using pay monthly options.

Those paying upfront will automatically receive a full refund within three weeks to their saved payment method, while Sky will cancel any future payments outstanding and refund everything paid so far by monthly users.

Unfortunately, those who didn’t buy directly from Sky, or received their product second-hand, won’t receive anything.

There will be no need for users to return their Sky Live kit to be eligible for the refund - devices can be recycled or returned to Sky for free via Royal Mail.

Online shoppers should beware, as devices are being sold via sites such as eBay and Facebook Marketplace - the product will stop working from early next month.
