Josh Addo-Carr has seen enough from Paul Alamoti to declare the Canterbury rookie has all the makings of one of the world's best centres.
Alamoti came into the Bulldogs' top-30 squad this year with a big reputation, having shown potential for years in the club's lower grades.
New Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo wasted no time handing Alamoti his NRL debut in round one against Manly, and the 19-year-old local junior enjoyed a breakout game in the 26-22 defeat of the Wests Tigers on Sunday.
At left centre, Alamoti first picked off an Adam Doueihi pass and sprinted upfield to connect with Addo-Carr.
Later in the first half, he fielded a Doueihi kick under pressure and broke through the defence to again assist his outside man.
Through his career at club and representative level, Addo-Carr has partnered on an edge with such talents as Latrell Mitchell, Tom Trbojevic and Justin Olam.
The winger is ready to put Alamoti up there with the best of them.
"He's definitely got the potential to be one of the best centres in the world," Addo-Carr said.
"Paulie's just got to keep improving every day, put his best foot forward and be a consistent first-grade player.
"Paulie's a wonderful talent and we love having him in the team. I'm just glad he's on our side and representing the Bulldogs."
No outside back has come up with more try assists so far this season than Alamoti and all three have led to Addo-Carr tries.
Addo-Carr put the pair's chemistry down to the Bulldogs' pre-season camp.
"It was the first time everyone was together, some boys had come back from the World Cup and all that kind of stuff," Addo-Carr said.
"We had a hard camp training-wise but Cam (Ciraldo) did a cultural night and everyone shared their stories and that kind of stuff.
"Everyone got to know everyone on a deeper level. That's really important if you want to be a part of a footy team."
As the hype around him intensifies, Alamoti is intent on remaining grounded.
"I don't really buy into any of that. I just work hard every day," he said.
"It's good having (Addo-Carr) outside me, that helps."
