A Sky News presenter broke down in tears live on air while discussing her colleague’s cancer battle.
Sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao feared she had just months to live after being told she had stage four breast cancer three years ago.
At that point the cancer had spread to her spine and legs, leaving her with little hope of survival.
But thanks to a new wonder drug called Olaparib, doctors were able to save Jacquie’s life and the 58-year-old is miraculously cancer free.
Appearing on Sky News, she was interviewed by her colleague Anna Jones about her amazing recovery.
And friend Anna couldn’t hide her emotion as they discussed Jacquie’s life-changing health turnaround.
Jacquie’s story was shared in The Sun, where she met Professor Andrew Tutt, one of the scientists who helped save her life.
Calling him a hero, Jacquie explained: “It (Olaparib) does work for a lot of people, but it works in varying degrees.
“I’m one of the people where it’s worked 100 per cent.”
She continued: “It won’t work forever. You have to have that in the back of my mind. It’s not a permanent fix.
“It’s so new they don’t even know how long it will work for, but anyway I’ll take it. Who would do the sport this morning if it wasn’t for him?”
Anna replied: “Well, we’re very grateful to him. You’re amazing Jackie. You are truly amazing and it’s a very moving article. He did a great job.”
The presenter was then overcome with emotion as she turned back to the camera and said: “Anyway...” before her voice tailed off.
Taking a deep breath, she said again of her friend “she’s amazing’ as Jacquie said “Oh Anna” in the background.
Sharing the clip on her Twitter account afterwards, Jacquie wrote: “I don’t think I have reduced my colleagues to tears before. Sorry @AnnaonesSky @SkyNews. Weekend Breakfast brought to you by humans!”
Fans, who were equally in awe of Jacquie, were also quick to comment underneath the video.
One wrote: “Huge admiration for you Jacquie. You’re an example to all. Rock on. X”
Another said: “A wonderful story Jacquie. Inspirational as well as deeply touching and emotional. I come from a BRCA1 family, where the disease has already claimed my sister and mother. I stand with you and all those living with breast cancer. You are an amazing person.”
“Was very touching. I expect it brought many people, myself included, to tears,” a third commented.
A fourth tweeted: “May it work for a long, long time – wishing you good health and what wonderful friends you work with.”
