A security officer told Sky News to end its coverage from Westminster after a sit-down protest gathered in the central lobby.
Jon Craig was in the middle of an interview ahead of Rishi Sunak being formally announced as Prime Minister when the officer cut across the screen.
As crowds of protestors sat on the floor of the Parliament building, the security officer held his hand up to the camera after Jon told him he was live on Sky News.
Protesters complaining at rising energy bills staged the sit-down protest in the Houses of Parliament in which several dozen demonstrators took part in the central lobby of the Palace of Westminster, some with a Greenpeace banner reading Chaos Costs Lives.
There was no attempt by police to move them on and after reading out a number of statements they left voluntarily.
The protest occurred just after Rishi Sunak had been announced as Prime Minister.
According to reports, around 40 people could be seen sitting on the floor of the stately building slamming the cost of living crisis,
According to Greenpeace and Fuel Poverty Action, the protestors are linking arms and reading testimonies from people having difficulty paying their bills.
They are said to be calling on the new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak to back a windfall tax on fossil fuels as well as better support for households and home insulation.
The campaigners are said to have entered the Palace of Westminster as tourists and visitors and were occupying the central lobby.
Sunak was announced as PM after Liz Truss quit just 45 days into her tenure.
It was reported that Boris Johnson would throw his hat into the ring after the former PM cut short his Caribbean holiday, however he then decided against the idea, explaining it 'wasn't the right time'.
