Skull found near beach identified but questions persist

A campsite on a farm east of Hobart has been linked to a man not seen by family for 28 years. (HANDOUT/TASMANIA POLICE)

Remains discovered near a makeshift campsite have been identified as belonging to an "extremely reclusive" man who was last seen by his sister 28 years ago.

A pair of store-bought orthotics helped confirm the remains belonged to Edward Harold Tait - but the cause of his death is a mystery.
