A restaurant and carvery owner has spoken out after a controversial social media post that stated elderly people trying to buy a child's carvery at a cheaper price would not be allowed. The strict enforcement of the under-12 meal rules at Marine Boat House Bar, in Skegness, comes amid skyrocketing bills, but it has caused controversy.
But manager Samantha Gillison, 32, the third generation of her family to manage the business, said in order for Marina House to survive, people had to support them, Lincolnshire Live reports. She said that some customers had taken advantage by purchasing child's cheaper, smaller portion sizes and loading up their plates, or trying to get two meals on one ticket - costing the business a meal.
"We want to stay open so people need to pay fairly for what they're having," she said. "A child's portion is significantly smaller than an adult's, so people will buy a child's plate and fill it up several times.
