Skate Update 0.29.1 is set to arrive around noon bringing in new features, updated settings, gameplay improvements, accessibility options, impossibles, 14 handplant variants and more.
As for gameplay specific improvements, drop-ins will work in more situations, including on taller vertical walls. The game’s visuals have been polished to include updates to skaters’ eye shapes and skin tones, and 50 new pedestrian types have been added around San Van.
The Social Menu has been moved to the top navigation bar in the main hub for easier access. Hold timing and its animations are now consistent across all D-Pad actions. Audio volume settings will be reset at the start of the season, which the developers say will make it easier to boost music through the Toolbar. Speaking of audio, PlayStation 5 players will benefit from 3D audio support.
The update will bring in a new co-op mode called Own the Lot, letting up to four players team up to clear as many objectives as they can before the timer runs out. Groups can work through tougher challenges, move through different spots around San Van and pick up Tix while they play. The mode also includes season-long Tasks that offer extra rewards. It’s tuned for playing with others and the team mentions that trying to take it on alone will be a tough run.
The update adds a wider set of flip tricks, including Impossible Flips, front-foot and nollie variations, along with held and late versions that also work out of grinds and manuals. Handplants get an update too with 14 new variants. Players can perform one-foot, no-foot and tweaked plants in fakie, hold them for different durations and chain multiple variants in a single plant. The team says these additions answer long-standing requests for proper Impossibles and more control on vert, with trick types like Darkslides planned for future seasons.
