Authorities have confirmed that salvage teams have successfully recovered the body of the sixth victim from the tragic Baltimore bridge collapse that occurred on March 26. The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was a result of a 213-million-pound cargo vessel colliding with the structure, leading to the deaths of six workers who were in the process of repairing potholes on the bridge.
The bridge, which was a crucial transportation route used daily by approximately 30,000 Marylanders, suffered significant damage in the incident. In response to the recovery of the sixth victim, the Unified Command, a collaborative task force comprising police, coast guard, and other government agencies involved in disaster response, issued a statement online.
The statement confirmed that the salvage teams, as part of the Unified Command, located the body of the sixth victim and promptly informed the Maryland Department of State Police. Following the discovery, Maryland State Police investigators, along with officers from the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and the FBI, swiftly responded to the scene to recover the body of the construction worker.
The victim has been identified as José Mynor López, aged 37. The recovery of the sixth victim marks a significant development in the aftermath of the bridge collapse, providing closure to the families and loved ones of those affected by the tragic incident.
