Six-year-old boy in hospital after being hit by car near primary school

A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy has been taken to hospital after he was hit by a car near a primary school in Fife.

Emergency services were called to Bighty Road, Glenrothes, at around 8.50am on Friday following a report of a child being struck by a car.

Police said a six-year-old boy was taken to hospital in Kirkcaldy and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.50am on Friday, August 28, police received a report of a crash involving a child and a car on Bighty Road, Glenrothes.

“The six-year-old boy was taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 8.44am to attend a road traffic collision on Bighty Avenue, Glenrothes.

“We dispatched an ambulance to the scene, and we transported one patient to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.”
