A major Glasgow street will be closed for weeks for repairs to the local sewer network.
Investigations by Scottish Water have revealed what appears to be a void in the sewer running beneath High Street with the repair works to last six weeks.
The repair project, which is being delivered by Scottish Water’s delivery partner George Leslie Ltd., is set to begin on Monday 9 January next year.

During this time, High Street will be closed between its junctions with Duke Street and Rottenrow.
Road traffic management has been agreed in liaison with Glasgow City Council and drivers are urged to follow the diversion which will be in place via Cathedral Square and John Knox Street.
Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager in the west, said: “This proactive work allows us to take care of the waste water network in the area. We know this is a busy part of the city and we will therefore do all we can to minimise disruption where possible.”
“We would like to thank road users, local residents and businesses in advance for their patience and understanding while these essential works are being carried out.”
Local businesses will remain open for the duration of the works and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
