Six months after Storm Eunice, Lauren recalls the moment that cost her a leg

Six months after Storm Eunice swept through the country causing flooding, damage and disruption a PE teacher has explained how the storm changed her life - leaving her without a leg. Lauren Cooper, 31, from Stevenage was badly injured when a garden wall collapsed and crushed her foot.

Her life now revolves mainly around physiotherapy and learning to walk on her new prosthetic leg. Lauren told HertsLive how the accident happened despite following warnings to stay at home.

She said: "I was staying at home and I can't even explain it. I heard a bang. It almost sounded like a car crash, but it was louder. I looked out the window to check on my car, but nothing was wrong. I didn't even go outside at that point, I literally sat back down and watched TV.
