Six major asthma triggers as warning issued to millions during hot weather

A warning has been issued to millions of people who have asthma as the UK experiences warm temperatures.

NHS England says asthma is often not taken very seriously and is seen as a mild disease. But it's the most common health condition among children, with around one in every 11 youngsters having the illness.

Government statistics show that every day, 185 people in the UK are admitted to hospital with an asthma attack, and 5.4 million people are using treatments for asthma. In 2020/21, there were 41,150 hospital admissions where the primary diagnosis was asthma, with an average age of 41.
