Six people have been rushed to hospital after a gas explosion at a recycling plant in northern Victoria.
Emergency services were called to the Shepparton North facility about 8.20am on Tuesday, following an incident involving a metal shredder, Fire Rescue Victoria said.
Ambulance Victoria flew a man in his 60s in a serious condition and a man in his 40s in a critical condition to the Melbourne’ s Alfred Hospital.
A further two women and two men were driven to Goulburn Valley Health in a stable condition.
The accident occurred at a business that provides residential and commercial recycling services for gas bottles and fire extinguishers.
“On arrival at the scene, the fire had been extinguished,” an FRV spokeswoman said in a statement.
Fire crews worked alongside Ambulance Victoria to treat six injured workers.
WorkSafe are investigating the incident.
