Six foot Boa Constrictor snake on the loose in Leeds has been found after urgent appeal

A 'girthy' snake that went on the loose in Leeds has now been found, after an urgent warning was issued by its desperate owner.

Amy Towers put an urgent appeal up on Sunday night to find her beloved Boa Constrictor Imperator, after it somehow managed to escape her house.

Amy was left worried sick that it was on the loose and slithering around somewhere in Leeds, report Leeds Live.

In her post, Amy, from Bramley, described the six foot snake as 'usually very moody', and 'reactive'.

However, the owner tried to reassure people that it wouldn't eat people's cats or dogs, as the biggest thing it would shockingly go for is a 'small to medium sized guinea pig '.

Amy's full post read: "I can't even believe I'm having to put this up.

"One of my babies has got out of its vivarium somehow.

"It's a BCI (Boa Constrictor Imperator), about 6 feet long and very girthy.

"Usually a very moody and reactive snake but has been in lowered temperatures so will be more than likely very slow and un-reactive and possibly just coiled up if outside. If outside will more than likely be in the Broadlane/Broadleas area of Bramley."

Amy went on to say that the snake however is not harmful to humans, but she was left frightened for her pet's wellbeing - especially if it wasn't found soon.

She added: "She doesn't eat people, the biggest thing she will go for to eat is a medium to small guinea pig, anything bigger than that she's not going to eat, so people's dogs and cats are not going to get eaten.

"They are not venomous, and they aren't harmful to humans. Of course if you do get bitten get it checked out by a doctor but they aren't harmful to humans."

She urged people: "If you see it, ring myself straight away. If you do see it, and you don't want to pick it up, put a cardboard box over it and contact me and I'll come pick it up.

"Snakes don't react very well with cold so she's going to be very slow moving, more than likely coiled up somewhere to try to keep warm. I need to get her back under heat as soon as possible."

Amy added on Sunday: "Today was my 29th birthday and let me tell you this was NOT how I planned it would go."

Luckily, her pet snake was found shortly after being shared across media outlets and social media.
