Six young Australian cyclists will make their senior track world championships debut next month as a batch of Olympians rest after the Paris Games.

While Olympic team pursuit gold medallist Kelland O'Brien will race at the October 16-20 worlds in Denmark, other Paris Olympians including Matthew Glaetzer will skip the event.

Matthew Richardson, who won three medals for Australia in Paris, is also out following his defection to Great Britain after the Olympics.

Five Australians who competed in Paris - O'Brien, Leigh Hoffman, Georgia Baker, Alexandra Manly and Kristina Clonan - have been selected in the 12-person team for the Denmark meet.

O'Brien will contest his fifth worlds alongside debutants Blake Agnoletto, 21, and Liam Walsh, 23, in the men's endurance program.

In the men's sprint, 2022 team sprint world champions Thomas Cornish and Hoffman will be joined by another worlds first-timer, Ryan Elliott.

Paris Olympians Baker and Manly are joined by 19-year-old debutant Keira Will in the women's endurance program.

In the women's sprint, Clonan has been named with emerging duo Alessia McCaig, 21, and Molly McGill, 23.

The Australian cycling team's selection panel convenor and executive general manager, performance, Jesse Korf said the squad reflected the priority of the Paris Olympics this year.

"The upcoming track world championships, however, provide an exciting opportunity for a different approach that sees a blend of experienced campaigners and debutants," Korf said in a statement on Monday.
