Rod Stewart has shared his own tribute following the death of the Queen whilst also revealing his own personal loss. The singer took to social media to share how it had been a 'devastating 48 hours following the death of his brother, Don, days before the Queen's death was announced.
Queen Elizabeth II died, aged 96, on Thursday afternoon (September 8). Her death was announced at around 6.30pm following the release of a brief statement by Buckingham Palace. The Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
Sir Rod, who performed at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee concert in June, has since posted on Instagram and Twitter: "It has been a devastating 48 hours. We lost my brother Don on Tuesday at 94 and today we have all lost Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 96."

He went on to recall how the Queen had been "an unwavering presence" throughout his life and "a great unifier" - just like his older sibling. "The Queen has been an unwavering presence throughout my life and a great unifier. A shining star that will never fade in our hearts and souls," Sir Rod, 77, penned.
Rod sent his well wishes to the Royal Family and added: "What a privilege it was to perform for her. My deepest sympathies to the Royal Family. God save the King."
His fans soon flooded him with their condolences following her family's loss. @weyakacassero said: "I’m so so sorry to hear about your brother I can only imagine how heartbreaking that is. And she was an amazing Queen my heart goes to all of England and her family too."
@cherishcelebrant wrote: "I’m so sorry to you and all the Stewart family for your loss. And I share in the sadness we feel at the death of our Queen. May they both rest in God’s peace." @moonin__ replied: "Sorry to hear the loss of your brother, best wishes all the way from Australia." @hillopes12 added: "Condolences to you and your family on the passing of Don. A very sad day for all of us on the passing of our Queen who has been a symbol and icon for all."
