Sporting legend Sir Mo Farah has revealed the shock news that he was brought into the UK illegally as a child. The four-time Olympic champion, knighted in 2017, felt compelled to tell his story in a new BBC TV documentary - and warned viewers "The truth is I'm not who you think I am".
The father-of-four admitted he came to Britain under a different child's name - revealing he was born Hussein Abdi Kahin. He goes on to reveal in the documentary that his father was murdered in Somaliland and he became separated from his mother.
Sir Mo, 39, said: "Most people know me as Mo Farah but its not my name or it's not the reality. The real story is I was born in Somaliland, north of Somalia, as Hussein Abdi Kahin. Despite what I've said in the past, my parents never lived in the UK. When I was four my dad was killed in the civil war, you know as a family we were torn apart. I was separated from my mother, and I was brought into the UK illegally under the name of another child called Mohamed Farah."
