Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer backed Liverpool as the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 host city.
The Labour Party conference kicked off in the city on Monday with the party keen to show they are ready to form the next government. While here, news broke that Liverpool had made it to the final two as the potential Eurovision host city.
Liverpool will go head to head with Glasgow, after the choice was whittled down from seven possible candidates including Sheffield, Manchester and Birmingham. During an interview with the BBC, Mr Starmer was quizzed on which city he was backing for the competition.

He said: "These are always difficult questions, you've got to choose between the two. Obviously, I want both to do well but here I am in Liverpool so I've got to give them the nudge."
Scouse 1993 Eurovision act Sonia has also backed Liverpool, saying the city has so much to offer. Speaking on This Morning, she said: "We have the music heritage of the world. It's just gonna be massive. It's got to be Liverpool."
Previously, the host city has been announced in early October with last year's ceremony in Turin confirmed on October 8. The BBC’s Host City Selection Committee hasn't confirmed when the final update will come but it could be only days away.
