Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already hinted at Harry Kane Man Utd stance amid Tottenham contract hope

Manchester United's potential new majority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already hinted at his thoughts surrounding a possible transfer for Tottenham's Harry Kane. The Red Devils are among a number of clubs eyeing a summer move for the 29-year-old with his Spurs future looking highly likely to once again be uncertain.

Kane will see his contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expire in the summer of 2024 and currently, there are no extension talks taking place. The immediate future of the club is likely one of the reasons there is hesitancy on the side of Kane after chairman Daniel Levy dismissed his fourth permanent manager of the last four-and-a-half years in Antonio Conte a few months ago.

On the pitch, Tottenham also appear in crisis after conceding 12 goals in their last three games, including a monumental drubbing at the hands of Newcastle. With interim head coach Ryan Mason then replacing Cristian Stellini, Spurs pulled off an impressive comeback against Manchester United before throwing away an even better fightback against Liverpool a few days later.

One point achieved from a possible nine has seen any hopes of achieving Champions League football for next season dissipate. Despite another trophy-less season, Kane delivered a surprising stance on winning silverware at Spurs in a recent interview.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Merseyside, Kane told Sky Sports: "When you've been here this long - I've been here since I was 11 years old - you understand what the fans are like, you understand what the club's like. You've been through good moments with the club, I've been through not-so-good moments.

"Values are... everyone wants to win and everyone wants to lift trophies and that's ultimately our aim every year. But we're in a different situation to some of the clubs around us and we have to accept that but still find a way to improve and get better.

"We probably haven't been doing that in recent years so ultimately it's about getting back to competing right at the very top and our squad has got enough talent to do that.

"Ultimately, there's some things that may need to change, I think everyone is doing everything they can to try and achieve that. But when you look at the competition in the Premier League now, the fine line between being one of the top clubs and 10th or 11th is very slim and you have to make sure you're on it in every department."

Kane remaining at Spurs beyond 2024, at this moment in time, does not appear likely and a reunion at Chelsea with Mauricio Pochettino is certainly possible. However, despite numerous transfer windows of interest, a move to United may not take place if Ratcliffe takes over at the club based on his previous comments surrounding transfer methods.

Speaking to The in 2019, the INEOS chief unleashed a brutal rant on United's £52m signing Fred with a particular comment giving Spurs some hope they'll be able to keep hold of Kane.

“They haven’t got the manager selection right, haven’t bought well," he said. They have been the dumb money, which you see with players like Fred.

"United have spent an immense amount since Ferguson left and been poor, to put it mildly. Shockingly poor, to be honest. We have a different approach here [at Nice] to be moderately intelligent about it. Try to do it more grassroots, trying to locate young talent.
