Sir Ian McKellen has warned his fans of a "fraudulent impersonator" who has been offering private signings while pretending to be him.
The 82-year-old actor apologised to anyone who has sent items in the hope of having them autographed and said the fake promoter has offered to refund those affected.
It is understood around 400 fans paid between £75 and £100 to have their possessions signed by the Lord of the Rings star in Canary Wharf, London.
