Sir Gareth Edwards has urged Warren Gatland to expand Wales' attacking game if they are to be successful in the Six Nations.
Gatland brought unprecedented success to Welsh rugby during his first stint in charge of the national side but was often criticised for the style of rugby he adopted with Wales often playing a tight and physical game.
Edwards welcomes Gatland's return but hopes the New Zealander and his attack coach Alex King can get Wales firing in attack.
"I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing Wales play some exciting rugby," he said.
"As a nation we aren't just satisfied with winning, we want to win with style. Winning is important of course but only within a context.
"He (Warren) has a knack of winning but I'll reserve my judgement until I see how much I enjoy it. He's been excellent for Wales as his record shows, and I think he was the right man to come back in now.
"I'll be interested to see how much he has changed. At the end of the day winning is king.
"If you don't win you don't have a job. The worst thing that would happen to us in my era is you wouldn't get picked but it's a profession now.
"I want Wales to win of course but I also want to see a bit of class."
Wales kick-off their Six Nations campaign with a daunting clash against the world's number one ranked side Ireland at the Principality Stadium in a few weeks' time.
And the man who is widely regarded as the greatest player of all time is confident Wales have the personnel to bounce back from a disappointing autumn campaign.
"I think we've got the individuals to do well but it's about how we fit together," he said.
"That is the question which will be interesting to see if he's moved on. Yes, he's had the British & Irish Lions job and I think that will have stood him in good stead.
"I'm quite interested to see how we've developed but I'll reserve my judgement until I see how we've developed."
