Sir Elton John shocked bar goers in Cannes by giving a sneak peek impromptu performance of his latest track with Britney Spears.
The music icon, 75, and the songstress, 40, have linked up for a collaboration with their track Hold Me Closer due for official release on Friday. However, the exclusive La Guerite bar in Cannes was treated to an early performance, much to the delight of their punters.
Elton donned a patterned cream co-ord as he took the microphone from behind the booth and let rip with the track. Sadly, Britney wasn't with him, but it still didn't stop the crowd going wild as he belted out the tune. The jam-packed crowd watched on in awe as Elton labelled the tune the follow up to his hit Cold Heart.
After he finished his performance, he thanked the crowd and went on to share the scenes on his Instagram. He captioned the post: "Sneak peak of Hold Me Closer - out this Friday."
And his followers seemed to love it just as much as the Cannes crowd. Among those sharing their appreciation on the upload was former England rugby union star James Haskell who simply commented with flame emojis.
American singer Charlotte Lawrence exclaimed: "Yes!!!," while even the account for the official UK charts got involved, telling the star: "WE'RE READY."
The video follows Monday's look at the new cover for the upcoming duet which showed Elton and Britney side by side. The Toxic singer shared the cover with her fans as both musicians were seen wearing blue and white sparkly baseball uniforms.
Elton also shared artwork for the single which showed the duo as kids. The sweet shots showed Britney wearing a fluffy pink dress with a pink feather in her hair. Elton meanwhile was seen beaming a smile in the direction of the camera while sitting at a piano in the black-and-white image.
Hold Me Closer was formed from Watford-born star's 1971 classic hit Tiny Dancer. Page Six reported last month that the collab was Elton's idea and claimed "Britney is a huge fan". A source told the publication: "They have recorded a remix of Tiny Dancer as a full duet — and it is incredible."
The song was leaked on social media last week, causing fans of the stars to kick off in outrage. Many decided against listening to the leak "out of respect" to the duo. The tune is the first time in six years Britney has released new music.
