Sir Billy Connolly may reside in Florida these days but when he's back on Scottish turf, he likes to tuck into the traditional delicacies.
The Big Yin is home for a visit so he had to stop by one of his favourite places, Balmaha's The Oak Tree Inn, for a big bowl of good old fashioned mince and tatties.
Despite it no longer being on the menu, the eatery took on the legendary Sir Billy' s request and managed to rustle him up a plate especially.
Posting two photos of their special guest tucking into his pub grub, they wrote on their Facebook page: "The Big Yin! He loves The Oak Tree’s Mince n Tatties. They’re not on the menu anymore but the chefs rustled them up at his request. Shall we bring them back? #conichill #visitscotland #scotland #scottish #scottishhospitality #lochlomond #gastropub."
And it seems like it was a hit as in the second photo, the star smiled as he showed off his clean plate. Fans took to the comments.
One wrote: "That's where I saw him the last time, he obviously likes the place." While another said: "Guid appetite then." Whilst one penned: "Enjoyed it I see." And one wrote: "Fantastic man."
Just last month, the funny man was spotted in a Glasgow eatery tucking into some Italian food. He stopped by Italian restaurant Mediterraneo, which is based on Ingram Street, and staff there were also delighted to host their special guest.
On Instagram, the restaurant posted a snap of the smiling 79-year-old as a member of staff wrote: "Serving a Glasgow Legend! Billy Connolly at #Mediterraneo."
The Big Yin, who was knighted in 2017, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2013 and retired from performing five years later, but has continued to record shows and appear on TV.
In 2002, Sir Billy was presented with a Bafta special award and honoured with a lifetime achievement award by Bafta Scotland in 2012.
Earlier this year, he was awarded a Bafta Fellowship and gave an emotional acceptance speech talking about Parkinson's and said that it was nice to be recognised despite not performing on stage for two years.
Bafta’s Fellowship is the body’s highest accolade, given to recognise “outstanding and exceptional contribution” in film, games or TV over a career.
