Sir Alex Ferguson's top chaser Clan Des Obeaux has been retired due to recurring injury issue

Clan Des Obeaux, Sir Alex Ferguson-owned chaser who won the King George VI Chase twice, has been retired.

The 11-year-old has missed the whole campaign due to injury having not run since he captured a second Aintree Bowl 12 months ago.

And days after abandoned an attempt to bring him back to defend his crown at this week’s Grand National meeting, trainer Paul Nicholls has announced his retirement.
