Daniil Medvedev looked to be cruising to a second Grand Slam title when he won the opening two sets. But Jannik Sinner has now fired back and levelled the match at two sets all. Can the Italian complete an epic comeback and win his first major title?

Jannik Sinner vs Daniil Medvedev, along with every other match of the Australian Open, is FREE to watch on 9Now (AU). In the US, live coverage is available via ESPN, ESPN+ and streaming services such as Fubo, which has a free trial. In the UK, you'll need Eurosport or Discovery+. And you can use a VPN to watch your domestic Sinner vs Medvedev live stream from anywhere, if you happen to be away from home.

Jannik Sinner vs Daniil Medvedev preview

The only thing that the 2024 Australian Open Men’s final is guaranteed to deliver is a new winner as neither Daniil Medvedev nor 22 year old Italian phenomenon Jannik Sinner have claimed this Grand Slam title before - although the big-serving Russian has now made the final on three of the last four occasions.

As the era of the ‘Big Four’ - Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray - continues to fade away, this feels like a milestone moment at Melbourne Park.

If successful, Medvedev will add to his 2021 US Open win and reinforce his credentials as the best player of his generation but his arrival at the top aged 27 has been hard fought and determined, both elements on display as he came back from two sets down in his epic semi-final against Alexander Zverev to win 5-7, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5), 6-3.

Sinner, for his part, has been in blistering form since the closing stages of last season and underlined his arrival at the top table, having not lost a set on the way to the semi-final, by dispatching a sub-par 37 year old Novak Djokovic 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-3.

It was no fluke and marked the Italian’s third victory in four games against the record-holding 24-time Grand Slam men’s singles champion (and 10-time Australian Open winner) but he will need to be at his very best to beat Medvedev.

Sinner may have won the last three of their nine match-ups but the Russian is sounding cautiously optimistic ahead of the final. “Let’s see how Jannik is going to be,” he noted drily. “Cannot predict it, but me, I have this experience. I know I just have to fight and try."

All will be revealed at the Rod Laver Arena today with a start time of 7.30pm AEDT local time (8.30am GMT). That's 3.30am ET / 12.30am PT in the US in the early hours of Saturday.
