Singletons wanted for unique blind date night at Belfast cinema

Belfast singletons are wanted for a unique 'Meet Cute' blind date experience at the Queen's Film Theatre.

Those aged 18 to 26 can apply and must be available on either August 12 or 13 - but the nights will also take place once a month.

Applications for these dates are open until Friday, August 6.

LUMI, for a younger generation at Queen's Film Theatre, are organising the nights, and said: "Meet Cute - noun - (in a film or television programme) an amusing or charming first encounter between two characters that leads to the development of a romantic relationship between them.

"It always happens in the movies, but can it happen at the movies? LUMI and Queen’s Film Theatre want to hear from film-loving singletons aged 18-26 who are interested in meeting someone new at the pictures.

"We’ll provide both the film and some booze for free and you’ll provide the charm and sparkling conversation…or at least a good story for your friends.

"Interested? Fill in a few questions and we'll get match-making. We will keep your information secure and contact you before arranging any dates."

Ellen Reay from Queen's Film Theatre said: "We launched this a few months ago and have been doing it a bit ad-hoc and it's back for the summer now.

"It's a blind date opportunity... The application is really simple. You just tell us about your favourite film, your age, who you are interested in, that sort of thing and then we do some match making after that.

"Once we have matched a few couples up we give them free tickets to a film and a free drink. They meet up a little bit before and have a chance to chat.

"This time it's 'Nope', the new Jordan Peel film. There is no charge. We will be doing it once a month with a new movie each month."
