A Sports Direct worker slapped a police officer with force in the face after they attended a domestic incident at her home. Two officers arrived at Amy Bird's address in Enderby Square, Lenton Abbey, on November 24 last year.
Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard Bird and her partner had been arguing and a decision was made to separate the parties, with her partner taken into the kitchen and the door closed. But Bird opened the kitchen door and forced her way in.
"She said, 'you can't stop me going into my own kitchen'," said Beth Leigh, prosecuting, on Friday (January 6). Bird then assaulted one of the officers, striking one in the face him with an open palm, causing pain and discomfort.

"She accepted she was in drink at the time," added Miss Leigh. After Bird, 35, was arrested and charged, she pleaded guilty to assaulting the officer, and was fined £120 and ordered to pay £50 compensation to the officer. Ian Boddy, mitigating, said Bird, who has 11 convictions for 25 offences, was a single parent.
He spoke about a family tragedy, with this incident happening three days after the one-year anniversary. She now works part-time at Sports Direct, and has completed various diplomas.
