Single guy finds romance through supermarket's customer service online chat

For those among us looking for love, it can sometimes seem like no matter how hard you try, the right person never comes along.

But it's often said that we can find love when we least expect it - and in the most unexpected places, too.

And for Jonah Taylor, who lives in the US, love may have found him in a way he'd never imagined.

After buying a record from the chain budget store Target, the 20-year-old was disappointed to open it and realise it was damaged.

So he went onto their website to complain about the purchase and was matched up with a customer service adviser over the online chat.

But after representative Pablo had sorted out his complaint, the conversation took a turn Jonah couldn't have predicted.

In a TikTok video, Jonah walks viewers through the conversation he had with Pablo.

He says: "So, I was talking to Target online support … and I think I just found the love of my life."

Filming the laptop screen which shows the chat he had with Pablo, Jonah shows viewers a smiley face Pablo sent to him after resolving his complaint, before writing: "Bye."

Jonah responded with a slightly flirty: "Bye bestie!" - and it seemed to woo Pablo.

He responded: "You really made my day, thanks."

As the conversation continued, Jonah said he decided to "shoot my shot" and decided to ask Pablo outright if he was available.

Jonah wrote: "Are you single by chance?"

Pablo then responds: "I guess this was destiny, you know?" He then confirms he is in fact, single.

As the conversation progresses, the pair exchanged social media accounts and followed each other, leading Pablo to ask if it would be ok to send Jonah a DM.

Then, after looking at Jonah's Instagram photos, Pablo tells him: "You look handsome to be honest."

Telling the story to his viewers, Jonah says: "Who needs Tinder or Hinge when you have Target support?"

Speaking to BuzzFeed after his video went viral, Jonah said: "I tend to be very kind to all customer support employees, as I know their jobs can be pretty stressful already.

"So when he told me that I made his day, simply by just being kind to him, I knew I had to talk to him some more."

The pair told the website they met over video chat for the first time last week and are planning their next "date" - but they're taking things slow for the time being.

As for Pablo's job, he reassured people he's not going to face any disciplinary action from the shop for his online romance.

He said: "Who would’ve thought a conversation I had with a handsome customer could turn into this?"
