Fans and famous friends have been offering Sinead O’Connor support after she posted a heartbreaking video to Twitter on Thursday morning.
In the video, the singer remembers her son Shane who was just 17 years old when he tragically took his own life in January.
With tears streaming down her face, Sinead told her 50,000 followers: “Good morning. Lost count how many days it is now, what is it, second or third March, nearly eight bloody weeks.
“It doesn’t get any better. Still dead. Every morning that I wake up, he’s a bit more f**cking dead than he was the day before. It sucks, totally sucks.”
Hundreds of people offered their support to the Nothing Compares 2U hitmaker, including fellow singer Imelda May who said: “Oh my dearest friend, send you so much love. XXXX.”
One Twitter user replied: “Oh Sinead, my heart breaks for your pain and the loss of your beautiful boy Shane. I have no words adequate enough to comfort you, only to say that you are in my thoughts and prayers always. I hope you're surrounded by love and kindness. Sending love and light.”
Another added: “My heart breaks for you. If there is a bereavement group available to you I thoroughly recommend it. I found it so helpful when my son died to talk to people going through the exact same feelings of loss. Hugs to you xxx.”
A third said: “This is harrowing to watch, please go and get the help and support you need bless your heart.”
Sinead, 55, has been been keeping her followers updated on social media as she mourns her son’s tragic death.
Following his "lovely Hindu ceremony" on January 15, the musician told how she left a few packs of cigarettes in her son's coffin "in case there's none in heaven".
She Tweeted: "We just said goodbye to our beautiful angel, Shaney. Very lovely Hindu ceremony. Shane will have loved it. He was always chanting 'Om. Shanti'. I put a few packs of fags in the coffin for him in case there’s none in heaven. He’ll have loved that too. Om. Shanti."
Sinead also told how she was admitted into hospital days after her son’s death, after sparking concern for her own safety.
Following the funeral, she told how she was staying with a friend and shared how a permanent place setting has been left at her dinner table for Shane and that he is "very present".
Sinead said on Twitter: "Am staying with my best girlfriend. Been with her since the funeral.
"We are smoking waaay too many fags (cigarettes) and reminiscing lots about my Babba.
"We have a permanent place set at the dinner table for him with a candle and incense. He is very present. He is love."
