Sinead Kavanagh posts touching tribute to 'pure hearted' Conor McGregor

Sinead Kavanagh took to Twitter last night to post a touching tribute to long time teammate Conor McGregor.

Kavanagh, who has trained with McGregor under the tutelage of MMA guru John Kavanagh at Straight Blast Gym for many years, shared an image of herself and McGregor embracing backstage after her win over Leah McCourt at Bellator 275 in February of this year.

The two are obviously close friends, and Kavanagh used social media to pay tribute to 'Mystic Mac'

The tweet begins, "A man who has a pure heart."

"Talent over everything."

Around the time of the McCourt fight three months ago, Bellator announced that they would be returning to Ireland this September. Kavanagh has already been confirmed for the event and is expected to feature prominently on fight night.

McGregor's future on the other hand remains shrouded in mystery. The Dubliner has been out of action since July 2021, where he suffered a horrific leg injury at the hands of Dustin 'The Diamond' Poirier at UFC 264.

The former two weight UFC world champion has already missed a year of action, but is expected to make the walk through the arena in the near future. As John Kavanagh revealed exclusively to the Irish Mirror last month, 'The Notorious' could even return to the octagon before the year is out.

"When will he be back? Well, there’s your million dollar question.

"I don’t know, I’d love to see him before the end of the year. Is that possible? Step one, let’s get back into the gym, let’s get back moving around with MMA sparring partners doing MMA drills, at the minute he’s doing stability work, strength and conditioning, non-fighting related stuff.

"But as soon as we can get that going again and just get that rhythm, and timing, I don’t think it will take a huge amount of time to get him from that to competition."
