Do I need professional installation?
SimpliSafe offers professional installation, but is entirely optional. If you opt to install the system yourself, components are generally fitted to walls with either adhesive strips or screws and wall plugs. Some require no installation at all, like the temperature and moisture sensors, and simply sit in place. The setup process is done either with the SimpliSafe smartphone app or the wall-mountable keypad.
Can I use it without monitoring?
Yes you can, but without a monitoring subscription your SimpliSafe system offers limited functionality. The system can still be armed when you leave home, and the alarm will trigger during a break-in, but it can’t be controlled remotely from the phone app, and the cameras do not save video recordings.
Since live monitoring is the primary feature of any SimpliSafe system, it is highly recommended to take out a subscription
Is it good for renters?
You may need to check with your landlord before installing a SimpliSafe system in a rented property. Most system components can be installed without using fixings like screws and adhesive, but the door/window contact sensors need sticking in place to work properly.
What if I want to add devices later?
Every SimpliSafe device can be bought separately to expand your system. Extras include door and window sensors, motion detectors, cameras, sirens, key fobs and sensors that monitor temperature and moisture. Devices can be added to your system via either the key pad or the SimpliSafe app.
Returns / warranty
SimpliSafe offers a 60-day return policy. If you aren’t satisfied with the system during that time, it can returned with free postage for a full refund. A one-year hardware warranty is included on all SimpliSafe products.
