'Simple as that' - Arsenal sent Bukayo Saka transfer warning amid Liverpool links

Arsenal have been sent a Bukayo Saka transfer warning amid apparent interest in Liverpool.

The Reds have been credited with an interest in Saka over the past few months, with those links resurfacing during the January transfer window.

Saka has 18 months left on his contract at Arsenal, with his deal currently running until the summer of 2023 - the same as Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.

The 20-year-old has arguably been one of Arsenal’s most important players this season, with seven goals in all competitions.

Reports in recent days have said that the Gunners are keen to tie down the likes of Saka to a new contract this summer, despite suggestions also saying they will go on a spending spree in the transfer market.

Due to apparent interest from elsewhere, former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips has warned Arsenal could be in danger of losing Saka for nothing when his contract expires.

Phillips believes that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will be telling the club’s hierarchy that they must get Saka a contract extension as soon as possible.

“That would just be typical Arsenal, wouldn’t it?” Phillips told Football Insider.

He added: “He’s got 18 months left and they’ll probably let it drag all the way through.

“I’d get him signed up now if I was Arteta. I’d be onto the board telling them to get him tied down to a four, five-year deal.

“He’s one of their best players, if not the best player. It’s as simple as that.”
