Simon Jordan says Steven Gerrard would be silly to take up the Poland national team job - as he states his Rangers experience wasn't enough to make the grade as Aston Villa boss.
The talkSPORT host has taken aim at the Liverpool legend after recent reports suggest that an opportunity on the international scene could provide a way back into football management. Gerrard was sacked by Aston Villa earlier this season and replaced by Unai Emery after a disappointing stint of less than a year in Birmingham, following a Premiership title win and Europa League success in his maiden boss job at Rangers, with former assistant Michael Beale now in the top gig.
Jordan says he isn't sure what level of manager the England hero is but insists on his show with Jim White that Poland isn't the correct route. He explained: "I don't think you can look at Steven Gerrard's body of work at Aston Villa and call it anything but (mediocrity).
"When he was announced as Aston Villa manager, I said it might work. That's not because of looking at it with a half-empty glass, I don't think he had the credentials to deliver for Aston Villa on what they needed to deliver.
"They needed a manager that was far more experienced to try and take up the challenge and ambition of these owners, and the change of direction Aston Villa want to have. Unai Emery might prove me right but Steven Gerrard certainly didn't prove me wrong. If he takes the manager job at Poland, I think he's mad. I don't see how that develops him. I think he's got a lot more to learn about management before he even gets near international management."
