Simon Jordan responds to Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool boss says he doesn't like pundit

Simon Jordan has made light of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitting he is not one of the outspoken pundit's fans.

Klopp opened up on why he listens to talkSPORT following the 2-0 victory over Watford in the Premier League last Saturday.

The German, who took over at Anfield in October 2015, had never managed outside of his homeland prior to his arrival on Merseyside and uses the broadcaster as a way of improving his English.

However, this means he sometimes finds himself listening to opinions he disagrees with, especially those of former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan. "Yes, I listen from time to time," Klopp told talkSPORT when asked if he tunes into the radio station. "I cannot say that I am a fan of Simon Jordan to be honest, not always.

"Sometimes I share his opinion; more often than not I don't but that's not a problem, it's entertainment."

Explaining why he chooses to listen to talkSPORT, the Liverpool manager added: "By the way, I don't listen to it for information reasons, I listen to it to improve my English! Because we have a Scottish guy and an English guy and other dialects on talkSPORT as well so that's why I try to get more into the language, that’s the reason."

Rather than take offence from Klopp's comments, Jordan saw the funny side and joked he would now support Manchester City as they host Liverpool in a potential title-deciding clash this coming Sunday.

He said: "I've now decided that I'm a massive advocate for Man City and I shall spend my entire time trying to pick holes in Jurgen Klopp because he doesn't like what I have to say!"

The Reds travel to the Etihad trailing their title rivals by one point with eight games remaining in the season.

They are also in action in midweek and take on Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night. Although Liverpool are strong favourites to reach the semis, Klopp refused to get ahead of himself as he discussed their Portuguese opposition.

He said: "Benfica is obviously a different opponent. One of the most successful teams in Portugal, this year maybe not exactly where they want to be in the table but they went far in the Champions League so it's a tough opponent. I know we know a lot of players, obviously, from Premier League or Bundesliga or wherever so you can say it's a proper team and we have to be really good, that's true."
