Simon Cowell rushed to hospital after horror e-bike crash left him with broken arm

Simon Cowell is reportedly "lucky to be alive" following another e-bike crash.

The Britain's Got Talent star, 62, is said to have been rushed to hospital last Thursday night after being caught in an accident near his home in West London, but was later released.

The entertainment mogul, who was not wearing a helmet, was "propelled over the handlebars and onto the road at 20mph".

His latest accident comes just 18 months after he broke his back on an e-bike in Los Angeles.

A source close to the TV star told The Mirror: "Simon was on the e-bike with his electric motor on, when the bike slipped on a wet patch.

"He went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road and is lucky to be alive as he wasn’t wearing a helmet.

"There was blood pouring from his face but luckily he managed to get some help from passers by.

"He was taken to hospital and X-rays showed he broke his arm.

"He has his arm in a yellow cast and is on the mend now but will need to rest."

According to The Sun, passersby helped poor Simon before the ambulance arrived.

He was rushed to hospital with suspected concussion and a broken arm, reports the publication.

A source said: “Simon is lucky to be alive.

“He was pedalling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch.

"He slipped and went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road."

According to the insider, Simon had blood pouring all down his face and "looked like something from Phantom of the Opera".

Thankfully, Simon was released from hospital that same night, with a cast on his arm.

His son Eric, who he shares with fiancee Lauren Silverman, has already signed his cast.

The youngster has "drawn their dogs Diddly and Squiddly" on Simon's cast.

He was reportedly told to rest following the crash.

The source added: "Despite this being his second great escape, Simon insists he’s not ditching the bike — but he will start wearing a helmet."

The crash came shortly after Simon finished filming for the news series of Britain's Got Talent, which is set to air in April.

It was in August 2020 where Simon suffered a very similar accident in America.

After it happened, he said: "Sometimes we get a reminder that we’re not invincible and this was certainly mine. It was a huge shock."

But it seems the TV star is yet to learn his lesson as he found himself in another life-threatening scenario last week.

Recently, Simon made the headlines as his son has been educating him about climate change, sparking his decision to buy an electric car.

Saying he is taking things seriously, Simon revealed he bought a Tesla.
