Simon Cowell forced to pause Britain's Got Talent as Amanda Holden intervenes

Simon Cowell was forced to pause Britain's Got Talent as he began choking during the live final.

The grand final of Britain's Got Talent kicked off on ITV with Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly opening the show alongside a troupe of dancers to One Night Only.

Dance troupe Ghetto Kids and schoolgirl Olivia Lynes were the first two performers of the night before Amy Lou took to the stage. The mum from the West Midlands sang a beautiful rendition of Reflection by Christina Aguilera.

Following the performance, hosts Ant and Dec turned to the judges for feedback on Amy's act. However, as they came to Simon he stood up and pointed to his throat.

He then pointed further down at the judges' panel, before Amanda Holden intervened and said: "He's got something stuck in his throat."

Ant and Dec swiftly moved to new judge Bruno Tonioli for his comments, while Simon was heard coughing in the background. After all the judges had given their feedback, except for Simon, the 63-year-old said he was struggling to speak.

He then instructed Amy to share her thoughts on her final performance and what Britain's Got Talent meant to her. The winner of the show will scoop a £250,000 prize, as well as a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance.
