Silverstone: How to watch British Grand Prix and can you still get tickets?

The British Grand Prix is one of the most historic and eagerly anticipated events in the F1 calendar and is now just a matter of days away.

Formula One’s travelling circus is coming to the British Isles, to Silverstone, where it will send 20 cars round the famous track 52 times at breakneck speeds.

Also the oldest in the calendar, the British Grand Prix is steeped in history, moments of greatness and shock.

It’s only fitting that the driver most successful round its corners is Sir Lewis Hamilton, who has claimed victory a huge eight times on a track little more than an hour’s drive from his hometown of Stevenage.

Hamilton, whose form has shown a slight uptick in recent weeks, will be hoping to push on and find another podium at his home race - Mercedes’ chief technical officer James Allison has already said he’ll cry if Lewis ups his win tally here to nine.

The full British GP race weekend will be broadcast live on Sky Sports F1, including practice, qualifying and the main event on Sunday (July 3).

There will also be a range of features, snippets, experts and interviews across the weekend as part of the station’s comprehensive coverage.

The British Grand Prix will kick off at 3pm on Sunday, providing entertainment to motorsport fans across the afternoon.

It will follow qualifying, which will take place on the previous day at 3pm on Saturday (July 2). Earlier that day the final practice session will take place between 12pm and 1pm.

On Friday July 1 the first two practice sessions will be available to watch, as the drivers get to grips with the circuit and iron out any tweaks they may have made to their strategy.

The first of these sessions will begin at 1pm and last until 2pm, while the second session will begin at 4pm and last until 5pm.

Most of the tickets for the Silverstone race weekend were sold out at the time of writing, including general admission to the grandstand on the Sunday.

Tickets to the MAHIKI parties are still available, although they don’t include access to the racing itself.

Tickets are still available, however, to roam the grandstands for Saturday’s qualifying session and practice session three.

Tickets for Grandstand access on Saturday currently sit at £199. Tickets for the three days of the weekend are also sold out.
