Silo season 3 is on the home stretch. And it's not just Juliette who's at risk of losing her memory to the sentient AI (or is it?) running the show anymore, but the entire silo.
One of the best Apple TV shows, Silo is must-watch sci-fi. Now is the perfect time to catch up – not only is the season 3 finale about to drop, but the fourth and final season is already in the can, so closure is guaranteed.

Silo season 3 release date
The Silo season 3 release date was July 3, 2026. The release date was confirmed by Apple TV on April 21, around two months before release.
Filming on the third chapter wrapped in June 2025. The show being in post-production for a year could be put down to the fact that seasons 3 and 4 were filmed back-to-back. Season 4 has now wrapped filming, as confirmed by the Apple TV Twitter account, so we might not have to wait long for the final season.
Silo season 3 plot
A lot has gone down in Silo season 3, which, for the first time, has been regularly flashing back to reveal how the silos came to exist.
After surviving near-incineration during the Silo season 2 ending thanks to her cleaning suit, we learn that Juliette was sworn in as mayor several months later. Though, she was still in a coma at the time and later woke up with amnesia. This unnatural memory loss, we learn, is being caused by Camille Sims, who is drugging Juliette with memory-loss pills at the behest of the omniscient AI that secretly runs the silo.
The heroes of Mechanical, who helped liberate the silo from Bernard, are dejected that Juliette can't remember them, as they work on rebuilding the section of destroyed staircase. Juliette is being kept in the dark by the silo's AI because she now knows too much, having survived her trip to Silo 17 in season 2.
Flashing back to before the apocalypse, we learn that Iran has recently detonated a dirty bomb in Washington D.C., and the US is poised to retaliate. Charlotte, the sister of US Congressman Daniel Keene, is a US naval pilot who is part of this mission. But during the assault, the fighter pilots fly into a cloud of nanomachines, and their jets are destroyed.
Charlotte survives, but also loses her memory (hmm). Daniel is suspicious of her groundbreaking treatment and has several run-ins with journalist Helen Drew, who had been working with Charlotte to expose US military activity in Iran. Eventually, they all learn the truth: the creation of nanobots means the end of the world is an inevitability, and world's richest man Per Stenson is bankrolling the creation of 50 silos to ensure humanity's survival.
Back in silo 18, Juliette eventually regains some of her memories after learning about the memory-loss drugs, and works with her old friends to prevent the AI from enacting the 'safeguard', which would pump poison gas into the silo and kill the entire population. High stakes heading into next week's finale.
Silo season 3 cast
Other than Iain Glen's Dr. Pete Nichols, who sacrificed himself, in the season 2 finale, most of the main cast have returned for season 3. There have also been plenty of additions, mainly for the flashback storyline.
Shortly after the season 2 finale aired, it was confirmed that both Ashley Zuckerman and Jessica Henwick would be reprising their roles in the third season as series regulars. Colin Hanks, Laura Innes, and Jessica Brown Findlay are also among the new additions; all play crucial roles in the flashback sections.

Is there a Silo season 3 trailer?
Yes! The first trailer for Silo season 3 was released by Apple on April 21, 2026. Clocking in at a mere 53 seconds, it's not a particularly expansive first look as it's built around a neat high concept. Depicting the events of the series so far in reverse, it ends with a pre-apocalyptic shot of the once verdant landscape where the silos were constructed. "Before we can know how it will end, we need to understand how it all began," says Juliette. Expect answers to big questions in the final two seasons.
Is Silo season 3 the final season?
Silo season 3 isn't the end of the road: the show has already been renewed for season 4. However, as announced back in December 2024, Silo season 4 is set to be the last installment in the series.
In a press release, it was revealed that these last two seasons will complete the story told by Hugh Howey's trilogy of novels, with Yost promising that it will satisfy viewers who are longing for answers to "many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos."
