Silkyara Tunnel collapse: May take two more days to rescue trapped labourers

UTTARKASHI(UTTARAKHAND): All 40 workers who were trapped in an under-construction tunnel on the Char Dham route are confirmed to be safe, and authorities are sending them food and water. However, officials stated on Monday that the rescue operation might take up to two more days.

The collapse occurred in a section of the tunnel under construction between Silkyara and Dandalgaon on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri national highway during the early hours of Sunday.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the site and confirmed that all trapped workers are safe and in communication with officials. While oxygen supply to the trapped laborers began immediately after the rescue operations were initiated on Sunday, they only received drinking water and light food after communication was established past midnight.
