Silent Hill renaissance continues with Silent Hill Transmission for Townfall on Feb. 12

Konami has scheduled a new Silent Hill Transmission for Feb. 12 at 4 pm PT, teasing news for the upcoming narrative game Silent Hill: Townfall.

Townfall has been in the pipeline since the 2022 Silent Hill Transmission, being a standalone entry developed by Screen Burn (formerly No Code) and published by Annapurna Interactive alongside Konami.

Townfall is expected to lean harder into narrative horror and jumpscares instead of the series’ gameplay-heavy psychological horror.

Silent Hill: Townfall is a part of Konami’s larger Silent Hill revival, which has been running on multiple tracks at once.

The biggest and most notable success was Silent Hill 2’s remake, developed by the Polish studio Bloober Team, known for Medium, Layers of Fear, and Observer. The studio managed to recapture the atmosphere of the original while delivering on improved visuals and gameplay, making the game a runaway success.

Another notable entry is Silent Hill f, developed by NeoBards Entertainment and written by Ryukishi07 of the Umineko and Higurashi fame. The game is set in 1960’s Japan and follows a schoolgirl named Hinako in the town of Ebisugaoka. The game received a positive reception and was even nominated for several awards.

But not every new Silent Hill project has been a success. Silent Hill: Ascension, an interactive streaming horror series, was largely confusing and almost universally panned. Christopher Gans’ Return to Silent Hill movie was also received poorly, getting only 18% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

But since the series’ gaming side is doing well, there’s hope that Townfall will be more than just a throwaway title in the Silent Hill catalogue. Screen Burn is a studio capable enough of producing a decent game, as was seen with Observation, released in 2019.

Even if it fails, Konami still has an Ace up its sleeve: Bloober Team has been hard at work, developing the remake for the original Silent Hill.

The timing for Silent Hill Transmission fits suspiciously well with Sony’s upcoming State of Play. There’s a possibility that Silent Hill: Townfall will be first showcased during this presentation, with the Transmission then doing a deeper dive into it. Townfall’s release date supposedly leaked last year, with one of the Mexican retailers setting it on March 26, 2026. Looks like we’ll have a confirmation or rebuttal soon.

Konami will share the Silent Hill Transmission livestream link at a later date.
