Sile Seoige opens up about her 'exhaustion' after intense few weeks minding her sick children

TV star Sile Seoige has told of her “exhaustion” after an intense few weeks minding her two sick children.

The Galway native shared her thoughts while on a train to Dublin on Friday morning, sharing her excitement at choosing things for her new house, which she is currently building.

She told her followers on Instagram: “I'm on the train to Dublin as I'm just too tired to drive up and down in the one day. Plus the train fare was cheaper than fuel.

"Making housey decisions today, which is exciting and I'm very grateful to be in this position.

“But the last while in particular has been full on.

“In a nutshell, we are parents of two kids (Cathal 5.5 and Clíodhna 16 months) living in extremely snug accommodation while we build our house (we hope to be in by the summer) trying our best to raise our kids as best we can, manage our careers, work as a team, have time for ourselves and each other (we're not doing great at these right now)

“And these past 3 weeks have been particularly intense.

“Of course things could always be a lot worse but it's also a build-up of circumstances/situations.”

She told how three weeks ago, her son Cathal was diagnosed with mild chicken pox, as well as undergoing minor surgery on his thumb. Her daughter Cliodhna also got chicken pox this week.

“3 weeks ago Cathal got chicken pox, mild but still...time off school/not getting work done, then he had an operation on his thumb, again nothing major but he still had to be knocked out for it, we had head colds in the mix, then Clíodhna got chicken pox this week (again mild which is great) but again it's the domino effect of not getting as much work done as you'd like etc.

“There is more but I won't get into it. And we know it'll all be worth it but still.”

Sile thanked her best friend Siobh for helping her when Sile had to get her bloods taken as well as her parents.

But she said she wasn’t “playing the victim” but said it was normal to feel “stress, pressure and overwhelm” at times.

“It's normal and it's healthy to say it out loud sometimes.

“We know how fortunate we are to be in the position we are in...building our own home but it didn't come easy to us, as is the case for most people.

“It has taken many, many years to get to this point and plenty of sacrifices which will all be worth it and already is, thankfully.”

She ended the lengthy post by saying: “So if you're in it right now, solidarity. Instagram is a snippet of our actual lives and usually the better parts.

This is a phase and it will pass. You are not on your own and we are doing better than we think. We really are.”
