Signs of Stronger Demand Lift Sugar Prices

March NY world sugar #11 (SBH27) closed up +0.33 (+1.77%) on Thursday, and December London ICE white sugar #5 (SWZ26) closed up +1.00 (+0.20%).

Sugar prices settled higher on Thursday amid signs that demand for sugar is better than initially projected. Covrig Analytics estimates 1.45 MMT of sugar will be delivered to settle the October NY sugar contract that expired on Wednesday, down from earlier estimates of 1.80 MMT and a sign of stronger physical demand.
