Leeds United have invested heavily into their youth sides in recent seasons since the arrival of Andrea Radrizzani as owner. However, as is with the cut-throat nature of football, not everyone will make it at Elland Road and so they have to move elsewhere to really make their way in the game.
One example of that is goalkeeper Elia Caprile, who departed Leeds permanently during the summer after failing to make a single first team appearance. Caprile returned to his native Italy to join Serie B side Bari and has started every game so far this season as they sit second in the table.
He spent the entirety of last term on loan at Pro Patria, a side currently in the third tier of Italian football. With Illan Meslier a guaranteed pick between the sticks for Leeds, as well as Kristoffer Klaesson and Joel Robles in reserve, Caprile was a long way off first team action in West Yorkshire.

That meant Leeds allowed him to leave in the summer for a minimal fee, but with a sell-on clause also inserted into the deal. Initially it was reported that Leeds would be due a small percentage, but it has now emerged that it will be considerably more.
According to Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, via Sport Witness, Leeds will actually get 50% of any future fee. That suggests Leeds still believe Caprile will go on to have a solid career in the game, and will also likely guarantee them a profit for however much he was brought to the club for all the way back in January 2020.
