A senior US defense official revealed on Tuesday that there has been a notable uptick in the amount of aid entering Gaza through various crossings, with nearly 200 trucks now arriving daily.
The official highlighted the increased flow of assistance through key crossings such as the Rafah crossing, the Kerem Shalom crossing, and a new crossing referred to as 96, which Israel recently opened.
Previously, aid deliveries stood at around 100 trucks per day in February, but the numbers are now climbing back up to an average of close to 200 trucks daily, according to the official.
Despite the progress, the official emphasized that more efforts are required to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. In addition to the land crossings, the US is also providing aid through airdrops and maritime corridors to ensure maximum support reaches those in need.
The official underscored the importance of maintaining a steady flow of aid through the various crossing points, stressing the need for continued collaboration to achieve further positive outcomes.
While acknowledging the improvements, the official reiterated the necessity for sustained efforts to bring about significant and lasting results in addressing the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
