NEW DELHI: Talented India opener Shubman Gill on Friday slammed his maiden Test century in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram. The 23-year-old got to the magical three-figure mark off 147 balls on Day 3.
The maiden Test ton from Gill came in his 12th match as he got to the landmark with the help of 9 delightful fours and a couple of sixes.
Gill has four Test fifties to his name as well.
The right-handed opener completed his hundred in the 48th over of India's second innings when he struck a boundary off Mehidy Hasan and celebrated the century by raising the bat towards the dressing room.
Gill, along with Cheteshwar Pujara, took India's lead past the 400-run mark, as the visitors tightened their grip over the opening Test after bowling Bangladesh out for 150 earlier in the day. Skipper KL Rahul chose to not enforce the follow-on.
Gill, who survived two on-field LBW decisions, took his chances and displayed his array of shots.
However, he was dismissed soon after completing his century, for 110, caught by substitute fielder Mominul off Hasan.
